TARA LEWIS - Contemporary, Jazz, Funk and Tap Teacher

Tara has danced for 20 years with the Mount Eliza and Peninsula Ballet School gaining Honours for her Advanced Ballet exam in 2001 and received a scholarship from the CDEB Inc with the top mark of all the CDTA/LMDS Advanced ballet examination candidates (Degree 6). She has studied many dance styles, which include Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Funk, Character and Tap and completed her VCE Dance with the ballet school in 2000. Tara began teaching the Jazz/Funk Classes in 2001 and the Junior Contemporary as well as the Tap classes in 2002. She was the Junior Ballet Classes Assistant teacher for three years. In 2006 Tara also joined the Young Dancers Company and danced a principal role in their production.
Tara has completed a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree. She is in her final year of studies in Palaeoecology towards a PhD at Monash University's school of geography and environmental science. We welcome Tara back to teach for us again.


LAURYN EDDY - TEACHER: JUNIOR & INTER CLASSES IN TAP FUNK & CONTEMPORARY

Diploma Dance teaching and Management, achieving an Academic Excellence award in 2010. Advanced Diploma in Entertainment Management. Lecturer in Business for Dance Teachers at Box Hill Institute of TAFE from 2012.  Currently working towards a Junior Associate in Laurel Martyn Dance System – MDEC

Throughout her dance life Lauryn has studied, taught and choreographed in many styles including jazz, classical ballet, neo-classical, hip hop, contemporary and tap. While training she developed a love for teaching and over the past 8 years has been sharing her vision and creativity with students of all levels and ages.  

After completing her Diploma in Dance Teaching and Management, for which she achieved Academic Excellence, Lauryn and her business partner began ‘Create 2 Educate’- offering schools and businesses creative dance workshops, tailored to the needs of their clients and students. 

Lauryn has also completed her Advanced Diploma in Entertainment Management which previously led her to working in marketing and also stage presentation and movement for musicians. This has led to a position teaching Business for Dance Teachers at Box Hill Institute of Tafe in 2012. 

Lauryn is in the process of becoming a Junior Associate in Laurel Martyn Dance System – MDEC. Lauryn is still performing however is dedicated to the progression and preservation of dance in culture and society and hopes to instil the same sense of passion and creativity into her students. 

EMMA HOUAREAU MOTHEE

Bachelor of dance (VCA), Diploma Dance teaching and Management, Certificate in professional training program (Ballet Creole school of performing Arts, Toronto, Canada)

Emma moved to Australia in 2006 to further her studies in Dance. She is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (2009) and during her time at the VCA she has worked with renowned choreographers such as Phillip Adams, Neil Adams, Rebecca Hilton, Anna Smith, Robert Ray and Stephanie Lake.  In 2007, she Toured Macau, Hong Kong alongside her fellow VCA graduates performing in the International Macau Fringe Festival.

Emma completed her Teacher training at Box Hill institute receiving the 1st year award for ‘Outstanding Achievement’, attaining the Diploma in Dance teaching and Management in 2010. She also completed a professional training program at the Ballet Creole School of Performing Arts in Toronto, Canada in 2004 specialising in Afro dance, modern dance, and Contemporary.

Emma has studied many dance styles which include Classical Ballet (ISTD & Laurel Martyn Dance System), Jazz, Jazz/Funk, Hip Hop, Contemporary, African, Carribbean and Afro Cuban, Character as well as Body Conditioning.

Emma has been teaching dance since 2004 and works as a Freelance dance teacher and dance lecturer at Box Hill institute of TAFE.

LISA WILSON

Bachelor of dance (VCA)

Lisa Wilson was born in Winchester, England where she started dancing at the age of five. Lisa, along with her family moved to Australia when she was seven. Her dance horizons were expanded when she enrolled in a dance school run by Catherine Preston where she spent many years training and forming her approach to dance and gained an honours for the Degree 5 examination. From the age of twelve Lisa knew she wanted to be a dancer. Lisa’s full time training started at the National Theatre Ballet School where, she was taught by Melenie Crowe and continued her study of contemporary dance which soon became clear was her calling.  

Lisa auditioned successfully for a place at the Victorian College of the Arts and graduated in 2010. During her time at the VCA Lisa worked with choreographers such as; Brett Daffy, Sandra Parker, Rebecca Hilton, Wendy Houstoun, Anna Smith, and Lina Limosani. 

Lisa performed in the 2011 Melbourne Fringe Festival with Melenie Crowe Dance performing a double bill of works called ‘Duality’. Lisa also Performed for FOUR project, a group of RMIT fashion students, as part of their FOUR: MOVEMENT & [UN]DRESSING season in 2011. She featured in John Gosper’s work.  

Lisa is also currently working with Rochelle Carmichael, artistic director of Liquid Skin Peninsula Performing Arts Company.
